The mountains of Sylarna is close to the Norwegian border at the height of Åre skiing resort. We were there photographing the landscape when some amazing cloud formations showed up. They are quite common we were told, but nevertheless, the clouds made a great impact on us. The mountains shaped them unforgivingly.

Did you know that the Carolean Death March 1718-1719 ended not far from here, in Handöl. The Caroleans marched in their retreat across the mountains and reached the Swedish border on 3 Jan 1719. About 3000 men froze to death in the mountains these cold and windy nights. Only 2100 out of 10000 soldiers made it back, many with wounds for life and their loved ones waiting at home could only pray for their safe return.
